Nowadays, we all use our smartphones as little computers, so we must keep them clean. Your iPhone speakers are one of the most critical parts of your device because they allow you to listen to music and take calls. If you’re looking for a way to improve the audio quality of your iPhone, then this article is for you.

The steps below will help guide you on how to clean your iPhone speaker:

Step 1: Clean iPhone speakers with painter’s tape

Painter’s tape or masking tape can be used to clean your iPhone speakers. This kind of tape isn’t as strong as other sorts and won’t leave any residue behind on your phone. Use a little bits of it, sticky side down, to lift dirt off the speaker on the front of the phone. Rolled to form a point, you can use painter’s tape to lift dust and dirt from the speaker holes on the bottom, too.

Step 2: Cleaning iPhone speakers with a toothpick

You can use the sharp point of a wooden or plastic toothpick to pop out debris that are lodged in the speaker holes at the bottom of your iPhone. Insert the tip with minimal pressure, then slowly tilt the toothpick until it pops out. All force should be directed sideways and then up, not down toward the phone.

But you should do so cautiously because they can damage the internals if used incorrectly. Because of this, you should only try this method at your own risk.

Step 3: How to clean iPhone speakers using a soft-bristled brush

Apple itself recommends using a soft-bristled brush to clean the iPhone speakers. Here’s how to clean iPhone speakers using a soft-bristled brush:

  • If you have any case or screen protector on your iPhone, remove it first.
  • Now, focus a flashlight on your iPhone’s speakers so you can see what you are dealing with.
  • Next, take a soft-bristled brush that is clean and dry and won’t cause any damage to your iPhone. You can use a paintbrush or makeup brush to clean the speakers.
  • Now start brushing the receiving speaker side by side but make sure you are doing it gently.
  • Repeat this several times to brush off the dust from the speakers. Tap the brush in between to remove the extra access dust.
  • You can also try this method to remove the dust from the lower speaker holes near the charging point. Insert the brush gently into the speaker hole and rotate softly. Then take out the brush to remove any debris or dust.

Step 4: How to clean iPhone speakers using Air blower

Using compressed air to clean iPhone speakers can easily cause damage it. A far safer method is to use an air blower, such as the Soft Tip Silicone Super Air Blower. This can be used to blow out any excess dust once you’ve used one of the above methods.

1. Hold your air blower a short distance from the speakers and use a few short bursts to remove dust and debris. It won’t be as strong as compressed air, but that’s a good thing.

2. If necessary, Bring your air blower closer to the speaker for more effect.

3. Make use of your flashlight to check on the progress and repeat if necessary.

If your iPhone’s sound quality still seems distorted, you may have an issue with the software rather than blocked speakers. You can try turning it off and on again to rectify this. If the problem still persists, unfortunately you may have to take it in for repairs.
